Everton bid for Vecino rejected

Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton have suddenly stepped forward with their €15m offer for Inter midfielder Matias Vecino, claim reports in Italy.

According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, negotiations stepped up a gear late on Friday night. maintain the proposal is worth €15m, but the Nerazzurri are holding out for €20m.

Tottenham Hotspur had also been linked with Vecino as part of a potential exchange with Christian Eriksen, who is due to have his Inter medical on Monday.

That deal is worth €18m plus performance-related bonuses to reach the €20m asking price.

It is Eriksen’s arrival at San Siro that is pushing Vecino towards the exit.

The 28-year-old Uruguay international joined Inter from Fiorentina for €24m in the summer of 2017 and his contract is due to expire in June 2022.

So far this season, he has made 17 competitive appearances for the club, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
