Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa is finally ready to make his move to Flamengo permanent, as Inter will pocket €18m plus 20 per cent sell-on fee.
According to Sportitalia, La Gazzetta dello Sport and more, the deal is at last done and the paperwork being drawn up today.
The striker will remain at Flamengo for €18m plus a 20 per cent cut of his next transfer fee if and when they sell him on.
Gabigol had been linked with a move back to Europe for West Ham United or Tottenham Hotspur, but always had his heart set on remaining in Brazil.
The 23-year-old agreed personal terms worth €4m per season to sign on until June 2024.
Inter bought Gabigol from Santos in the summer of 2016 for €29.5m, but he never made an impact, scoring one goal and barely featuring.
A loan at Benfica was also cut short so he could return to Santos, then really took flight once he switched to Flamengo in January 2019.
He made 43 club appearances for Flamengo, scoring 34 goals, taking them to the league title and the Copa Libertadores.
