Inter will not formally announce Christian Eriksen’s transfer from Tottenham until Tuesday, claim reports, because their social media team want to prepare something special.
According to Sky Sport Italia, FCInter1908.it and others, the announcement will be timed to have the most media impact and allow their social media team to create a suitably impressive design.
He flew in at 10am local time to undergo his medical and sign a contract to June 2024, reportedly earning €8m per season net plus bonuses.
The Dane waved to fans outside the medical centre in Milan and took a selfie with the crowd from the window.
Eriksen started his career in Denmark with Odense, but quickly moved to the Ajax youth academy in January 2009, before earning a €13.5m transfer to Tottenham in the summer of 2013.
His contract with Spurs was due to expire in June and he would’ve been available as a free agent, but Inter finally succumbed to Tottenham’s demands and paid the €20m, plus €1m solidarity fee (to go to his youth clubs) and the gate from a friendly between the two teams.
Although that might seem costly for a player with barely five months left on his contract, website Transfermarkt value Eriksen at €90m.
He had also been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United last summer.
The midfielder turns 28 next month and has 95 senior caps for Denmark, scoring 31 goals.
