Milan have rejected Napoli’s loan offer for left-back Riccardo Rodriguez, allowing PSV Eindhoven back into the race to sign the player.

Rodriguez has been linked with a move away from San Siro ever since losing his place in the starting XI to Theo Hernandez.

A move to Fenerbache fell through, and a deal to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven seemed close, before Napoli declared their interest in the 27-year-old.

Napoli coach Rino Gattuso is a big admirer of Rodriguez and would’ve liked a reunion at the San Paolo.

However Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Rossoneri have said no to a potential deal for Rodriguez, due to a disagreement over the loan deal.

Milan were prepared to accept a loan deal with an obligation to buy at the end of the season, however Napoli wanted an option to buy, in case the left back's performance weren't up to standard.

This now allows PSV back into the hunt for the left-back.

Rodriguez joined Milan from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2017.
