Alessandro Florenzi will fly out to Valencia for his medical, completing a six-month loan from Roma. “I am not emotionally ready to talk yet.”
According to multiple sources in Italy and Spain, the Giallorossi captain has accepted a dry loan – so no option to buy – until June 30.
This will give him regular playing time in the build-up to Euro 2020, something Paulo Fonseca could not guarantee him at the Olimpico.
Florenzi is expected to fly out for his medical tomorrow morning.
When Sky Sport Italia requested a comment, a visibly upset Florenzi’s response was telling: “I am not emotionally ready to talk yet.”
He was asked if he had something to tell the Roma fans and laughed bitterly.
“I have so much to say.”
The 28-year-old is a born and bred Romanista who spent practically his entire career with the Giallorossi jersey, playing 280 games.
He only had a brief loan spell at Crotone in 2011-12 and had inherited the captain’s armband from Daniele De Rossi.
After Francesco Totti and De Rossi were ousted, he had been the only remaining Roma ‘lifer’ at the club.
His agent Alessandro Lucci also spoke to Sky Sport Italia.
“Alessandro is relaxed and that is the most important thing. The present situation tells us this is the best decision for everyone. Valencia have long been interested in Florenzi.
“We’ll talk about the formula of the move later on, but right now he just has to play football and enjoy himself. It’s not a goodbye, it’s an arrivederci – see you again soon.”
