Sofyan Amrabat has snubbed Napoli in favour of a €20m transfer to Fiorentina, though he’ll remain at Verona for this season. “I chose with my heart.”

The 23-year-old Morocco international was on loan from Club Brugge with option to buy set at €3m, but having already played for two clubs this season, it means he cannot move again until 2020-21.

There was nonetheless a bidding war to get his signature for next term and Napoli had agreed terms with Verona, but the midfielder was unconvinced.

There was nonetheless a bidding war to get his signature for next term and Napoli had agreed terms with Verona, but the midfielder was unconvinced.

Amrabat preferred Fiorentina and has formally signed a contract with them instead.

“I chose with my heart,” he told Sky Sport Italia as he arrived to sign the contract.

The transfer is worth the same €18m plus another €2m in bonuses that will activate if the Viola qualify for Europe during his time there.

Amrabat will sign a contract worth €1.5m per season plus bonuses.

It’s a massive profit for Verona, who not only get to pocket €15m plus potential bonuses, but also get to play him for another six months.
