Gervinho might be stuck at Parma after Al-Sadd coach Xavi confirmed the transfer was probably not completed in time.

The striker tried to force through a move by not turning up to training for three days in a row, as announced by Parma tactician Roberto D’Aversa on Friday.

He did finally sign the paperwork for the €5m transfer within seconds of the Qatari January window deadline on Friday evening.

“We too are waiting for a response from the Qatari Federation. We did everything we had to as a club to make the transfer go through, so now we too have to wait and see,” director Alessandro Lucarelli told Sky Sport Italia.

“We had hoped for different behaviour from the player in these circumstances, but we have to make do with the situation we have.”

The Parma TMS went through, but as of this morning, there was still no sign of the electronic receipt from Al-Sadd.

“What I heard from the club’s management is that it’s difficult to register Gervinho, as the transfer window closed yesterday,” Al-Sadd coach Xavi said on their official website.

“If he is registered, it will be for next season. He’s a fine player, but we’ll try to look for a free agent who can join the club now. I would’ve linked to have Gervinho here, but it’s difficult to register him now.”

According to Sky Sport Italia, there is still some hope, as Parma could lodge an appeal to FIFA.
