Roma are leaning towards an operation for Amadou Diawara’s knee injury, which would effectively put an end to his season.

The midfielder suffered a lesion to the meniscus and tried to take a couple of weeks to see if conservative treatment would be enough to resolve it.

However, according to the Corriere dello Sport, progress has not been good and surgery is increasingly likely.

If that is confirmed, then Diawara will likely be out of action for the rest of the season, approximately three months.

There are growing concerns that delaying the operation could damage the cartilage in the knee as well as the meniscus.
