Simone Inzaghi has revealed that Lazio “must focus on one game at a time” and avoid getting “distracted” ahead of their match against Verona.

Tomorrow, Lazio will host the Gialloblu at the Olimpico and could leapfrog Inter in the table with another win.

But Inzaghi has stressed that his Biancoceleste will have to continue with the same mentality in the “very important” match on Wednesday.

“It will be a very important match tomorrow, the three points will be fundamental for our position in the League,” Inzaghi told at a press conference. “There are still 17 games left and we must focus on one game at a time and not get distracted.

“The most important thing is that the players can recover their energy, both physically and mentally. We had a game on Sunday afternoon. I have some problems that were there already before the game against SPAL.

“Today, I only have one training session before I decide who I will play. That’s my only concern.”

Inzaghi said he will not take into consideration that five of his players are one yellow card away from being suspended.

“Cards are a problem, but my decisions will only be influenced by the physical conditions of the players.”

The great partnership up front between Felipe Caicedo and Ciro Immobile has helped the Biancoceleste flourish this term and the coach also pointed at Joaquin Correa.

“That’s one of the secrets of this team,” Inzaghi admitted. “Between Immobile, Caicedo and Correa, there’s a great understanding.

“When one of them scores, the others are the first to be happy. Now, there’s no Tucu and I asked Immobile and Caicedo if they could make a sacrifice.”

With a win tomorrow, the gap up to Juventus at the top of the table will be cut to a mere two points, but Inzaghi said it doesn’t change their overall objective of reaching the Champions League.

“I don’t think so, but it remains an important fixture. If we win tomorrow, it will lift us to second and it would be very important for us. We will play against a team that require respect.

“We have been together for almost four years, we have won big titles and played good football. We are aware of our strength, but we need to continue with our usual humility. Last weekend, we saw that all the games are dangerous.”

Lazio will have to cope without mentioned Correa and Danilo Cataldi against Verona, but the coach hopes to have them back for the next match against Parma.

“Correa and Cataldi are unavailable, I have to check with Luiz Felipe,” Inzaghi said. “They have similar problems, we probably rushed them back. Danilo was close to returning but wasn’t ready yesterday.

“Correa is well underway, we decided to rest him a few days. In the two or three days after Verona, we might recover them in time for Parma or directly for Inter.”
