Cagliari director Mario Passetti has claimed he doesn’t see why Inter loanee Radja Nainggolan can’t stay with the Rossoblu beyond this season.
The former Belgium international returned to Sardinia last summer, when it appeared that he wouldn’t feature in Antonio Conte’s plans at San Siro this term.
In his second stint at Cagliari, things started very well for the 31-year-old and he was a key member in the side that stormed to a place among the top four in Serie A during the first half of the season.
After the winter break, the Casteddu has stagnated a bit and are currently sixth in the League, but Nainggolan remains a very important player at the Sardegna Arena.
Passetti has revealed he would like to keep the influential midfielder in Sardinia.
“Why not? The impact he has on the squad is evident,” Passetti told the reporters during an event in Milan. “He is having a great season.
“We will speak about his future in a little while. It has been a complicated operation, but a genius one by President [Tommaso] Giulini.
“Maybe we can keep him if we reach the Europa League.”
