Spinelli era over in Livorno

Aldo Spinelli has sold Livorno to the Dutch entrepreneur Majd Yousif and ended a 21-year long adventure as patron for the Serie B side.

The Livorno owner reportedly met Yousif, the President of Sharengo Free Mobility, in Genoa and agreed on a sale of the Amaranto.

Calcio e Finanza reports that their respective lawyers will carry out all the legal procedures and formalise the agreement.

Sharengo Free Mobility produces electric minicars and are strongly connected to the Chinese group Geely Motor, the owner of the Volvo brand.

The mayor of Livorno Luca Salvetti oversaw the operation and according to Calcio e Finanza, said: “It’s with great satisfaction that I witnessed the conclusion of the agreement that safeguards, above all else, the future of a team that is heritage of the city of Livorno.”

Spinelli turned 80 last month and it has been reported that he therefore is preparing his retirement after two decades in charge of the Tuscan side.

Livorno are currently bottom of Serie B, as they have struggled to compete of late. The new owner looks deemed to start with a relegation, as the Amarato have a 10-point gap up to the play-out places.
