Iachini: 'Too many Fiorentina errors'

Beppe Iachini felt Fiorentina “made too many mistakes” in their passing, which allowed Atalanta to dominate at the Stadio Franchi.

Federico Chiesa’s scorching control and half-volley had put the hosts in front, but Duvan Zapata and Ruslan Malinovskyi completed the comeback after the break for a 2-1 result.

It came just a few weeks after the Viola had beaten Atalanta 2-1 in the Coppa Italia when down to 10 men.

“We made some mistakes in our approach to the game. Last time, we made fewer errors and were able to create more chances, but too many mistakes this time meant we weren’t able to really develop our forward moves,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Unfortunately, this seems to be a recurring theme during our home fixtures. We’ve evidently got to work on this aspect of our game and improve our passing against teams with a high press.

“We gave the ball away too cheaply, so must be more clinical and efficient. It’s paradoxical that we struggle more at home than away, but we don’t control the ball well enough."
