Gaston Ramirez described his fantastic free kick and said Sampdoria “had more fuel in the tank” than Torino in their comeback 3-1 win.
Simone Verdi had put the Granata in front, but three goals in nine minutes – including a Ramirez brace – turned it all around.
“I am happy first of all for the three points, as it was a difficult game and conceding at the start of the second half made it even harder,” Ramirez told Sky Sport Italia.
“We were able to come back and win in an arena that is tough for most opposition teams. The performances we’ve been putting in lately have been good and we deserved more against Napoli, for example.
“We created more scoring opportunities today and we saw without doubt that we had more fuel in the tank than Torino. It’s so tough when you go a goal down at the start of the second half, especially against a physical side like Toro, but we took control.”
Ramirez got the equaliser with a magnificent free kick curled into the near top corner from the very edge of the box.
“The free kick was very close to the goal, so it was tricky, but I made the right decision in going for that corner.”
