SPAL are on the verge of sacking Leonardo Semplici and installing Luigi Di Biagio as coach, according to a report.
The Ferrara-based outfit lost earlier today against Sassuolo, their sixth consecutive defeat in Serie A.
They are languishing at the bottom of the table and are seven points adrift of safety.
Tuttomercatoweb.com report that SPAL are close to sacking coach Semplici, and are expected to hire Di Biagio as boss for the remainder of the season.
TMW suggests that first choice for the role was Gianni De Biasi, but the former Albanian coach wasn’t enthusiastic about taking the job.
Di Biagio will sign a contract until the end of the season, with an option to extend into next season, should SPAL survive the drop.
