Cagliari boss Rolando Maran says injuries affected his team’s performance in their 1-0 defeat to Genoa. “We made three substitutions and it complicated everything.”

The Rossoblu haven’t won for two months, and went down to a Goran Pandev strike just before half time.

Christian Oliva was injured just before the game kicked off, forcing Maran into a change.

“We suffered three injuries, because Oliva’s decision was made when getting off the bus, we made three substitutions and it complicated everything,” said Maran in his post-game press conference.

“We lost something through the two changes made during the game, but didn’t risk anything.

“We conceded through a fortuitous incident. In the second half we clearly deserved something form the game, but this is how it’s going at the moment.

“There are moments in which we must remain calm and face them with a man’s eye.”

The Sardinian side welcome Napoli to the island next weekend, but will have to do so without Radja Nainggolan, who is out through suspension.

“We are angry for losing him for a non-existent foul. We’ve lost a key player in an important game in an unfair way.

“We will work maintaining the anger that was in the locker room at the end of the game.

“That anger will be transferred to next Sunday’s game because we want to make the fans proud of the shirt.

“In difficult moments it is necessary to know how to bring out the moral aspects and the personality of the side.”
