Lazio captain Senad Lulic has successfully undergone keyhole surgery for an injury to his left ankle and is expected to be out for at least a month.

The defender had been struggling all season with issues in that ankle, but the situation deteriorated this week, with coach Simone Inzaghi commented it “barely even looked like an ankle” because of the swelling.

When Lulic started using crutches not to put weight on it, the decision was made to go under the knife.

He had the operation at the Paideia clinic in Rome today and a statement from Lazio confirm it was a success, so “his condition will be monitored on a daily basis.”

There is no recovery time mentioned, but multiple sources put it at four to six weeks.

Coach Inzaghi was one of the first to visit Lulic in the clinic this afternoon.
