Napoli have confirmed that Elseid Hysaj has undergone tests to reveal a “distraction” of the “collateral ligament”, sustaining the injury against Cagliari.
The full-back had to come off towards the end at the Sardegna Arena on Sunday and Napoli have now announced that he has a distraction in his right knee.
“Elseid Hysaj, who was replaced because of an injury during Cagliari-Napoli yesterday, underwent clinical tests today,” the club wrote on their official website. “Revealing a slight degree of distraction of the medial collateral ligament of the right knee.”
The 26-year-old has played 14 times in Serie A this term and had established himself in the squad again after the winter break.
Napoli haven’t confirmed the extent of the injury, but he might miss the important game against Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League next week and the return leg against Inter in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia on March 5.
