Ligue 1 side Monaco have reportedly offered Napoli striker Dries Mertens a two-year deal, with significantly more money than the Partenopei’s offer.
Merten’s contract expires at the end of the season after nearly seven years in Naples.
According to reports, Mertens has made it clear that he would like to stay, given the right monetary offer.
Il Corriere dello Sport states that Monaco have offered the Belgian a two-year contract worth €5m per season.
In addition, it’s reported that the French side will offer a €5m signing-on fee.
Napoli meanwhile are offering Mertens €4.5m a season, but refuse to go any higher.
Patron Aurelio De Laurentiis has apparently also promised Mertens a role behind the scenes once his playing career comes to an end.
