“I believe Lazio will win the Scudetto,” 1999-00 champion Eriksson told La Repubblica newspaper.

“I believe Lazio will win the Scudetto,” 1999-00 champion Eriksson told La Repubblica newspaper.
“Their first XI is stronger than that of Inter or Juventus. They also have more confidence and are more solid than the others. They play better football than any of the other teams and that is the point.
“Lazio have great technical ability in their players and always seem to be so calm. If they go a goal down, it doesn’t matter, they look at each other and seem to say: ‘Now let’s sort it out.’
“They have the best midfield in Italy, without debate. I think their midfield has few rivals in European football, to be honest. That is the heart of Lazio’s strength.”
When Lazio won their last Serie A title in 2000, Eriksson was the coach and Inzaghi was in the squad as a striker.
“Inzaghi is a great person, you cannot imagine how happy I am for him. This is just the start of his career, imagine where he could be in five years. Simone is one of those coaches who will always fight for the Scudetto or Champions League.
“I’m sure Simone won’t mind if I say Ciro Immobile is a better centre-forward than he ever was!”
