Ferrara: 'Conte wanted Vidal, not Eriksen'

“Antonio Conte would’ve preferred that Inter sign Arturo Vidal rather than Christian Eriksen,” claims Ciro Ferrara.

The Nerazzurri spent weeks negotiating with Tottenham Hotspur and eventually agreed to pay the €20m asking price for Eriksen, who had only six months left on his contract.

“Antonio explained it very well, Eriksen needs time to settle into and understand certain tactical mechanisms,” former Juventus defender Ferrara told Tiki Taka.

“Ashley Young and Victor Moses could slot right in because they’re on the wings, all they have to do is go up and down. The Inter midfield is already strong, it’s about keeping the right balance.

“In my view, Conte would’ve preferred that Inter sign Vidal rather than Eriksen in January.”

The coach did make it clear on several occasions that he wanted to reunite with his ex-Juve midfielder Vidal, but Barcelona refused to sell.
