A note getting an Atalanta fan off school to experience the “historical and cultural” Champions League Round of 16 game has gone viral.
The first leg with Valencia kicks off at San Siro in Milan at 20.00 GMT.
It’s reported one in three citizens of Bergamo are making the journey to Milan for this match, as the team made it into the Champions League knockouts in their debut season.
That includes a little boy called Edoardo and his father, who wrote this note to the teacher.
“We inform you that this afternoon Edoardo will be absent from class for cultural-historical reasons. He will be experiencing a page in the history books of Bergamo along with his Dad. Forza Atalanta!”
The note was retweeted by Mayor of Bergamo Giorgio Gori, so that’s the official stamp of approval for this very special educational trip.
