Captain Alejandro Gomez insists that Atalanta will “still need a miracle” at the Mestalla when La Dea travel to Valencia for the return leg.
La Dea convinced the spectators with a thumping 4-1 win at San Siro last night, but the Orobici captain would like to calm down the expectations ahead of the second leg in Spain.
“We played a great game, with a likeable result,” he told Atalanta’s official website. “The 4-1 will allow us to travel to Valencia with two results available to go through.
“In the return leg there will be a fight against a team that will have their fans pushing them. A miracle will be needed because you can never know in football, surprises like this are always possible.
“We played the game we had prepared for because in the Champions League you can’t do well in any other way. We pressed them and finished everything we created.
“It was beautiful to see so many fans at San Siro, also because I believe those moments are a once in a lifetime experience and it will remain in the history.”
