Maurizio Sarri only focused on the match against SPAL in Serie A and has revealed that Giorgio Chiellini could be back in Juventus' starting line-up.

The captain returned against Brescia but Sarri didn’t want to guarantee the Italy international a place in the first XI against SPAL in Ferrara.

He revealed that they will “evaluate” after the training session today and the same goes for another veteran, goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

“At the moment, I don’t know,” Sarri said at a press conference. “Giorgio was doing well enough, despite missing the last step. We will evaluate together after the last training session today; we will talk about it.

“For Buffon, I don’t know. We will talk later, and we will evaluate tomorrow.”

Despite having a big game against Olympique Lyonnais next weekend, Sarri didn’t want to get ahead of himself and focus on their proceedings in the Scudetto race.

“At the moment, the only perspective is on tomorrow’s match,” he added. “We are arriving in progress. We only need to think about the match in Ferrara.”

The Bianconeri tactician has claimed that Luigi Di Biagio has already provided some change at SPAL and is aware that they will have to fight for the points at the Paolo Mazza.

“Something has changed in defence, before they played with three defenders and on the last occasion, only with two,” he said. “Juve know that Ferrara will not provide us with an easy game, in recent years it has been some complicated away games.”

The coach has praised wing-back Cuadrado for his abilities to change position from defender to attacker when need be but claimed that midfielder Sami Khedira might have to sit out another match.

“I’m happy with Cuadrado. He has played a part of the season as an external defender and he did well. We needed him to return to the attacking position and he did well also there. He’s very strong.

“Let’s see [for Khedira], he’s a bit behind. Let’s see if we can bring him or have him back.”

Sarri also claimed Federico Bernardeschi could be an alternative to play in Douglas Costa’s usual position.

“He is doing quite well, even if he has had a period out,” Sarri told the reporters. “He doesn’t have 90 minutes in him, but he can play. He has been tossed about in many different roles. His versatility must be acknowledged. Without Douglas Costa, he could hypothetically play in that role too.”
