Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon could make history today if he plays against SPAL, whilst Cristiano Ronaldo is set to make his 1,000th appearance as a professional player.

Buffon is currently on 647 league games in Serie A, equalling Paolo Maldini’s record that was set in 2009.

With the Bianconeri playing in the Champions League against Lyon next week, regular stopper Wojciech Szczesny may be rested.

Shoud that be the case, and Buffon starts, he would stand alone as Serie A’s most represented player.

Leonardo Bonucci is suspended for the Bianconeri, so Daniele Rugani and Matthijs de Ligt are expected to start.

Danilo could play at right-back, with Mattia De Sciglio on the opposite wing.

Rodrigo Bentancur should replace the injured Miralem Pjanic at the base of the Juventus midfield, with Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot flanked alongside him.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who will make his 1,000th appearance as a professional player, is slated to return after being rested against Brescia last week.

Ronaldo should be supported by Paulo Dybala and Juan Cuadrado.

SPAL meanwhile could line up in a 4-2-3-1.

Coach Luigi Di Biagio confirmed yesterday in his press conference that the struggling side would implement a four-man defence.

Andrea Petagna will lead the attack, supported by Gabriel Strefezza, Lucas Castro and Federico Di Francesco.

Probable line-ups:

SPAL (4-2-3-1): Berisha; Cionek, Bonifazi, Zukanovic, Reca; Missiroli, Murgia; Strefezza, Castro, Di Francesco; Petagna

Juventus (4-3-3): Szczesny; Danilo, Rugani, de Ligt, De Sciglio; Ramsey, Rabiot, Bentancur; Cuadrado, Ronaldo, Dybala
