Sergio Busquets argues it was “impossible to find spaces” through the Napoli defence, while Barcelona will be short on options for the second leg.
Antoine Griezmann equalised on a Nelson Semedo ball rolled across from the right flank after the Dries Mertens opener from the edge of the box.
It leaves the Champions League Round of 16 tie open going into the second leg at Camp Nou.
“Napoli were playing with a line of four and practically a line of six beyond that, so it was impossible to find spaces,” complained the midfielder to El Chiringuito.
Busquets was booked and Arturo Vidal sent off, so both will be suspended for the second leg on March 18.
“We’re a bit short on options at the moment, so we have to reinvent ourselves.”
