Kalidou Koulibaly will not be back in time to play in the return leg against Barcelona in the Champions League, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The newspaper reports that the Senegalese defender will not want to rush himself back, even if he is given the go ahead from the medical staff at the Azzurri.

Koulibaly was seen holding the back of his leg whilst hobbling along the side of the San Paolo pitch, as he came off after only five minutes in the 2-1 defeat against Parma.

The newspaper reports that the Senegalese defender will not want to rush himself back, even if he is given the go ahead from the medical staff at the Azzurri.

Koulibaly was seen holding the back of his leg whilst hobbling along the side of the San Paolo pitch, as he came off after only five minutes in the 2-1 defeat against Parma.

It was later confirmed that he had suffered a thigh strain and initially returned in February, but after 90 minutes against Lecce in a 3-2 loss, he aggravated the injury.

The game against Barcelona will reportedly come too soon for the centre-half and the outlet claims that he will have to wait until the home game against SPAL at the San Paolo on March 14.
