“The team has been working with good intensity during training, even if the name of our opponent kept changing,” confessed D’Aversa during his press conference.

“Seeing as for a while we weren’t sure who we were up against, we worked on our own tactics and issues. It’s very important that we get the result, because this is an opportunity to secure the first target of our season, which is Serie A safety.

“Despite all the difficulties tied to a lack of fans and not playing for two weeks, we need to be totally focused. SPAL will come here desperate for points and highly-motivated.

“Playing behind closed doors is an anomalous situation, not one we are accustomed to, so we have to be concentrated from the first second, even during the warm-up.”

It’ll also be an unusual scenario for the coach, who is sitting out a touchline ban for dissent.

“It’s going to be difficult, but here too, I try to look at the positive aspects. You can see the game clearer from a higher position and observe the tactical movements much better.

“I trust my staff who will stand in for me, but I also trust my players after some splendid training sessions.”

The injury list includes Roberto Inglese, Luigi Sepe, Andrea Adorante, Antonino Barillà, Matteo Scozzarella, Vincent Laurini and Hernani.
