Inter and Genoa goalkeepers Daniele Padelli and Federico Marchetti earned one-match bans for insulting the referee, despite not even playing.

Both veterans were shown the red card as they sat on the bench during last weekend’s Serie A matches.

Padelli was dismissed from the touchline during the second half of Inter’s 2-0 defeat to Juventus, earning a one-match ban and a €5,000 fine.

Marchetti shouted an insult at the Fourth Official after their 2-1 victory away to Milan, which resulted in a one-game suspension and €10,000 fine.

As all these games were behind closed doors, it was probably easier for the officials to hear precisely who was shouting abuse at them from the touchline.
