Atalanta’s run to the quarter-final of the Champions League has seen the club earn over €50m in prize money.

Financial website Calcio e Finanza crunched the numbers on the Bergamo side’s success, and it revealed that the club, as it stands, will receive just over €50m from UEFA.

Atalanta have earned €5m from the first TV market pool, which is based upon the financial agreement made between broadcasters in Italy and UEFA to air the Champions League, in this case Sky sport Italia.
La Dea were awarded €15m just for making it into the group stage, and they were given a further €3.3m for their ‘historical ranking’ in UEFA competitions.
Atalanta won two games in the group stage and drew one. This totalled €6.3m in bonus results, with each victory earning €2.7m and a draw receiving €900,000.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s outfit then received a further €9.5m for qualifying for the Round of 16.
Their qualification to the last eight last night is worth another €10.5m, and a further €500,000 linked to bonus redistribution.
The total outlay is €50.4m
Calcio e Finanza state that this number will increase, due in part to the second TV market pool, with La Dea standing to earn anywhere from a minimum of €6m to €9.3m, depending on the success of Juventus and Napoli in the competition.
These figures also don’t take into account the gate receipts from playing in the competition.
Atalanta’s four home games against Shakhtar Donetsk, Manchester City, Dinamo Zagreb and Valencia have brought in €6.8m in match-day revenue.
La Dea’s wage bill this season is €36m.
