Defensive midfielder Marten de Roon has revealed that the Atalanta players are being “checked every day” and urged other countries to be equally “serious” about the coronavirus as Italy.

La Dea returned to Bergamo after a 4-3 win against Valencia in the last 16 of the Champions League, seeing them through to the quarter-finals with 8-4 on aggregate.

But the reality back in Bergamo has changed drastically during the last week, with increasing safety measures taken by the government and the impact on football culminating with Juventus defender Daniele Rugani testing positive.

Both Juventus and Inter are in quarantine after the revelation and De Roon has urged other countries to take the same measures in an interview with NOS Sport.

“When we enter the club, the thermometer will appear,” he told the Dutch outlet. “Everyone is checked every day, asked how he feels.

“We are checked every day and at the moment I’m not infected myself.”

“Everything is being done here to contain it. Actually, it’s also important for other countries to deal with the situation as seriously as here.”
