As it stands, La Dea are also on course to qualify for next season’s competition also, as they are in fourth position in Serie A.

De Roon was talking to website Cronachedispogliatoio. It about working under Gasperini.

“He makes you work so much and so hard. You are always in shape,” De Roon told the website.

“He asks more and more of everyone, he still does it. He says to us: ‘We can improve technically, tactically and physically.’ He changed the mentality at the club.

“He wants to go to Turin when facing Juventus to win, not for a draw. I have seen that I have improved, but also all 30 players in the squad have improved.

“In his 3-4-3 he understands the players. He asks Hans Hateboer to run and to have power, to attack beyond Josip Illicic.

“He asks me to do the dirty work, to get the ball to Papu Gomez. He knows the qualities of his players very well..”
