Russian Premier League has decided to suspend the season until April 10 amid fear of the COVID-19.

Real Russia Today confirms that the Premier League clubs in Russia decided during a meeting to suspend the upcoming fixtures until next month.

Zenit are currently on top with a nine-point gap ahead of Lokomotiv Moscow and Krasnodar after 22 rounds of fixtures.

The report on Real Russia Today reads: “On March 16, Russia’s Sports Ministry announced the cancellation of all international and nationwide sports competitions that draw foreign athletes.

“The agency also recommended limits on any national sporting events that aren’t qualifying stages for competing in the Olympic Games.

“As part of the effort to fight the spread of COVID-19, several regions across Russia have temporarily banned all mass gatherings.”
