Hypotheses for the new Serie A calendar

Yesterday’s conclusion to postpone the European Championship was good news for the possible conclusion of Serie A and the Coppa Italia. Here are the different hypotheses suggested in Italian media.

Euro 2020 became Euro 2021 yesterday and solved some of the implications faced by the European Leagues currently suspended due to the Coronavirus emergency.

The hopes of a fair conclusion to the League has been boosted by UEFA’s decision and Serie A might be able to continue as normal from Week 26.

In theory, there are 12 Weeks remaining, but some teams are stuck on 25 games and will have to recover a 13th fixture during the hypotheses below. All are suggesting nine weekend fixtures and four scheduled for the midweek.

Hypotheses for the restart of Serie A 2019-20:

Hypothesis 1:

Restart – May 2

Conclusion – June 28

Hypothesis 2:

Restart – May 9

Conclusion – July 5

Hypothesis 3:

Restart – May 16

Conclusion – July 12

Hypothesis for the Coppa Italia:

Semi-final return legs – May 20 and May 21

Final – June 18
