Juventus defender Daniele Rugani was the first Serie A player to test positive for coronavirus and his girlfriend revealed she is pregnant. “I hope it won’t affect the baby.”
The Italy international is one of two Juve players to have tested positive, along with Blaise Matuidi, sending the whole squad and staff into quarantine in case they will develop symptoms.
There is another concerning aspect to the Rugani situation, as girlfriend Michela Persico revealed she is expecting.
“I am four months pregnant, so what happens now?” she told magazine Chi.
“I can’t even talk about it, but we can only wait and see. I hope the virus won’t affect the baby. The doctors assured me there shouldn’t be a problem, but put yourself in my shoes: it’s infinitely frightening.
“Daniele and I were preparing the right moment to announce my pregnancy when he tested positive. It was meant to be a moment of joy. I am sure we’ll get back on our feet.”
There were another 475 deaths from coronavirus in Italy over the last 24 hours, taking the total to 2,978.
