Milan: 'After Istanbul there is Athens'

Milan’s official Instagram posted a message of hope referencing their Champions League Finals. “Everything will be fine, after Istanbul there is Athens.”

The club, along with most other sporting institutions in Europe and the world right now, is in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Rossoneri published a picture on Instagram of a banner that was placed on a balcony in Milan.

‘Andrà tutto bene, dopo Istanbul c’e Atene!’

This rhyme uses the motto of the coronavirus lockdown in Italy, ‘Everything will be fine,’ with a reference to the club’s Champions League history.

The 2005 Final in Istanbul saw Milan fumble a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Liverpool, eventually losing on penalties.

However, the two sides met again two years later in Athens and the Rossoneri took revenge with a 2-1 victory.

“Today’s struggles are tomorrow’s strength,” added the Milan Instagram page.
