Lorenzo Sanz, who was President of Real Madrid from 1995 to 2000 and won two Champions League trophies, has died at the age of 76 after being diagnosed with Coronavirus.

He had been rushed to hospital and placed in intensive care on Tuesday evening.

His son had told reporters on Thursday that the situation was “not reassuring,” as he had also developed a kidney infection.

Sanz was President of Real Madrid from 1995 to 2000, winning two Champions League trophies in Finals against Juventus and Valencia.
