Coronavirus deaths have today dropped in Italy, while the daily rate of recoveries from the illness has increased from 24 hours ago.
Wednesday’s update coincided with a press conference held by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, with head of civil protection and usual host Angelo Borrelli struck down after he showed fever symptoms.
In 24 hours, 683 have died from COVID-19 – a drop from Tuesday’s tally of 743. There have also been 1,036 recoveries, more than the 894 from yesterday.
Taking those numbers into account, 74,386 have been diagnosed with coronavirus since the epidemic began, with 57,521 currently positive, 9,362 recovered and 7,503 deceased.
Out of the 57,521, 23,112 are hospitalised with symptoms, 3,489 are in intensive care (+93 from yesterday but 99 less than the +192 announced on Tuesday) and 30,920 are in self-isolation.
