UEFA wants to compromise next season to finish the current campaign in August and thereby ease the economic damages caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Times writes that the European Football Association has been planning to conclude the current season during the summer but has to find a solution to limit the implications for next season.
Next season will have to finish in May, with the European Championship postponed and set for next summer, scheduled to take place between June and July 2021.
The English newspaper writes that UEFA is hoping to somehow compromise the 2020-21 season and will meet to discuss how to execute the adjustments and tailor the conclusion of 2019-20 this summer.
One of the hypotheses up for discussion could lead to fewer international breaks for the nations preparing for the European Championship, to pave way for a more intense schedule in the various European Leagues.
