The total number of coronavirus infections has surpassed 100,000 in Italy, but the daily figure of positive tests has more than halved.

The daily death toll rose on Monday from 756 to 812, while the total number of cases increased by 4,050 to 101,739.

However, the number of new infections has plummeted since 24 hours ago, from to 3,851 to 1,648.

Furthermore, the rate of recoveries has more than doubled from Sunday (+1,590 compared to +646), although intensive care admissions slightly has slightly risen (+75 compared to +50).

There are now 101,739 cases of coronavirus on the peninsula, with 75,528 of those active.

Of that 75,528, 3,981 are in intensive care and 42,588 are in self-isolation (+1,164 compared to +3,005 yesterday).

A total of 11,591 have died and 14,620 have recovered.
