Juventus have activated the option to extend Blaise Matuidi’s contract until June 2021, confirmed the club.

The news had been expected and already hinted at by the player himself.

When Juve released financial balance sheets, the extra cost of the contract was spotted, meaning it has already been written into their books.

France international Matuidi’s contract had been due to expire in June, but there was an option to extend.

He will turn 33 next week and is still in quarantine after testing positive for coronavirus.
