During yesterday’s summit, it became clear that Serie A are preparing for a possible resumption after the coronavirus emergency, but the Brescia patron has been struggling to accept the proposal.

“It’s arrogant and irresponsible,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “My speech is primarily based on two pillars: respect for health and safety of the footballing system.

“After losing this season, we will also ruin the next one, that would be decisive to start again.”

UEFA has plans to postpone all the fixtures and push the upcoming 2020-21 season forward to accommodate the conclusion of the current campaign.

“They can’t push anything. The season closes on June 30, when there’s the deadline to present the club’s budgets and player contracts. They are arrogant and irresponsible; they only think about their economic interests and the Cups.

“But UEFA doesn’t decide for the Italian championship, Italy decides. If Serie A must be resumed, it has to end by June 30. Will they make us play every two days? Or does UEFA also have the power to extend the days and make them 72 hours?

“If UEFA wants to do something useful, they will send oxygen cylinders and respirators to Brescia, we would be grateful for that.”

Cellino pointed out that the Rondinelle can’t resume training directly after April 13, as they are 'at the centre of the epidemic'.

“Here in Brescia, we have trucks carrying out the dead. We are at the centre of the epidemic, they are all busted,” he added. “They come from 45 days of total inactivity; it takes a month of training to just get them back in shape.

“Otherwise we risk breaking everyone. In recent days, I made the sports centre available for individual training for individual players followed from a distance by a trainer and a doctor. After less than half an hour of running, two of them pulled something. Do I give you an idea?

Cellino was attacked by Lazio President Claudio Lotito for deliberately sabotaging a possible resumption of the League and the Biancoceleste chief claimed he was only trying to save his team from relegation.

“The other day he yelled at me: ‘you don’t want to play to save yourself’. From that pulpit, he who makes fire and flames because he thinks he will win the Scudetto.

“I don’t care about relegating: so far we deserved it and I too have my faults. I make a general speech. To end the championship in June, an impossible and risky tour de force awaits us, to prolong the season it’s necessary to change all national and international rules: player contracts, balance sheets, deadlines with the banks, transfer market, preparation, start of the new season. An absolute chaos. For what?”
