Atalanta wingback Robin Gosens was about to receive an international call-up before the games were suspended, revealed Germany coach Joachim Löw.
The 25-year-old has joint German and Dutch citizenship, but was born and raised in Germany.
He moved to Atalanta from Heracles in 2017 for under €1m and has been a key figure in their Champions League success, scoring eight goals with five assists in 30 competitive games this season.

“My collaborators and I had thought of calling Gosens for the March friendlies,” Löw told German magazine Kicker.
“We would’ve liked to see him in person.”
That would’ve included a friendly against Italy, but all the internationals were called off due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It was set to be the first international call-up for Gosens.
