Edmundo was known for his temperamental approach to football and former Fiorentina teammate Aldo Firicano reveals some of his more hidden tantrums.

“He’s an extraordinary guy, formidable on the field and good fun off it too,” Firicano told Tuttomercatoweb on Edmundo’s 49th birthday.

“He’s an extraordinary guy, formidable on the field and good fun off it too,” Firicano told Tuttomercatoweb on Edmundo’s 49th birthday.

“I remember when he arrived in Italy, Alberto Malesani put him on the bench and he really wasn’t expecting it. Not understanding that decision, just before we were about to walk out on to the pitch, Edmundo was still there in front of the mirror shaving, as a way of showing his irritation.

“I also remember one day in training that Rui Costa opted to pass it to Gabriel Batistuta rather than Edmundo. He was absolutely livid, so the first time the ball reached him, he juggled it in the air three times and kicked it out of the training ground.

“That’s just what he was like, but we all loved him, despite everything. I wish him a very happy birthday.”
