The Bianconeri were the first squad in Italy to accept a voluntary pay cut during the coronavirus lockdown, but negotiations elsewhere have hit problems.

“Captain Chiellini spoke to the club, then told all of us via a Whatsapp group what was being discussed,” Cuadrado revealed on Sky Sport Italia.

“We talked about everything that was happening. It’s a difficult moment for everyone, so naturally we all wanted to give our contribution. We hope that we set the example for others.”

The Players’ Association pointed out that although stars at Juventus can afford to take a pay cut, the same cannot be said of those in lower tiers.

Several of his Juve teammates have gone abroad during the lockdown, but Cuadrado remained in Turin.

“I am happy with my decision, as I get to spend 24 hours a day with my family, and that hadn’t happened for a very long time. We draw, colour in and do a bit of everything with the kids.”
