Fiorentina captain German Pezzella looks forward to ‘seeing my teammates’ and reveals that he had to stop training after testing positive for coronavirus.
Almost a month has passed since the Argentine centre-half tested positive for COVID-19 and he has claimed the time in isolation, away from his family, has made the current situation ‘even more difficult’.
“Right now, I dream of going back to living a normal life, hugging my family, seeing my teammates and training in a group,” Pezzella said on social media. “After testing positive for the virus, doctors recommended that I kept still for a week.
“Then I resumed training gradually. At the beginning I was struggling, but then I recovered. I have been training well for two weeks and I hope I can soon return to train with my teammates and go back to playing.
“I’m far away from my wife and family, it certainly made it even more difficult. We always speak through messages and video calls, but it can’t have been easy even for them, they were worried about me.
“It’s not easy to spend a lot of time alone in the house, reading books and watching TV series. I want to thank everyone who sent me messages, you never made me feel completely alone. I’ve been speaking to President [Rocco] Commisso, my teammates and the coach every day.”
