Former Barcelona and Milan director Ariedo Braida doubts Lionel Messi will move to Inter, while he backs Ralf Rangnick to make an impression at Milan.
Braida spoke to Tuttomercatoweb this afternoon about the on-going transfer rumours that are filling the papers in Italy, Spain, Germany and Argentina.
“Messi is too happy at Barcelona and I sincerely doubt he could leave there. He is truly loved, has been there since he was a kid and earns so much, I don’t think he has the slightest intention of moving on from Camp Nou,” said Braida.
It had been reported Messi could exchange places with Inter striker Lautaro Martinez in the summer.
“I know that Barcelona like Lautaro. They’ve paid bigger clauses than his (€111m). I think he has the right profile for Barcelona, so they ought to sign him.
“The coronavirus pandemic has changed the transfer market, so Inter could even decide to keep him and extend his contract.”
On the other side of San Siro, Milan are repeatedly linked with current RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig director Rangnick.
“I try not to comment on Milan’s situation now, but I will say that Rangnick is a coach to be respected. He is an innovator and likes to work with young players.”
Rangnick would be given sole powers over both picking the team and the players, as he’d be coach and director of sport.
“If you want to work with players and then trade them to buy new ones, Rangnick is suited to that. If you work to win, then it’s a different project entirely.”
