Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has claimed the media only focus on the penalties that ‘should have been given against' Juventus and not the contrary.

In an interview with Foot Truck, the Poland international pointed out a meeting between the referees where he claimed they admitted to have made a mistake by giving Lecce and Torino penalties against the Bianconeri.

“Nobody talks about it, but there has been a meeting of referees in which they said that the penalties against Lecce and Torino shouldn’t have been given,” Szczesny told Foot Truck, according to Tuttosport. “No one in the media is talking about it

“They love to do it only when there should have been given a penalty against Juventus.”

Dutch starlet Matthijs de Ligt arrived at the Allianz Stadium last summer and a series of clumsy handballs gave him a difficult start in Turin, but Szczesny claimed he was ‘unlucky’ and praised the impact of the former Ajax.

“De Ligt was unlucky, only the one against Inter was a penalty,” he said. “When you are making handballs for a month, you have to laugh about it. If you avoid talking about it, you make it uncomfortable.

“Matthijs is the combination of two things: he’s good at the ball but he’s also an animal. [Giorgio] Chiellini got injured and I couldn’t feel the difference, that says a lot.”
