Lazio star Luis Alberto jokes teammate Ciro Immobile “owes me an expensive present, maybe a Rolex” after his many assists and pinpoints when the Scudetto race came alive.
The Spain international has provided 13 Serie A assists and one in the Europa League this season, more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.
“Immobile owes me a present, an expensive one. Maybe a Rolex!” joked Luis Alberto on Lazio Style Radio.
“In all honesty, I hope he scores 40 goals as soon as possible. I have no preference between goals and assists, as long as we get three points.
“Football has always been my passion, I worked so hard to get here. I always want to win and if we keep getting three points when the season resumes, it’ll mean we are either first or second in Serie A.”
Few expected the Biancocelesti to be in the Scudetto race, but they have kept up the pace.
“After facing Atalanta, that’s when everything changed, as we had three wins in a row against Fiorentina, Torino and Milan. We said between ourselves in the dressing room that the tide had turned. We are a family and we love playing football together.”
Lazio are a point behind Juventus, but have already beaten the Bianconeri to lift the Italian Supercup this term.
“It was exciting to win a trophy, but I didn’t like playing in Riyadh. You need fans in football and it’s not the same when playing so far away from home, without your real supporters. Even the post-match celebrations were muted. We can’t do anything about it, these decisions are all about money.”
