Sky Sport Italia claim Gonzalo Higuain might try to delay or even abandon his return to the Juventus camp, as he wants to stay with his ill mother in Argentina.

The striker was one of the first to leave the country after quarantine was imposed, as players Daniele Rugani, Blaise Matuidi and Paulo Dybala tested positive for COVID-19.

Just under the 14-day quarantine period, Higuain was allowed to fly out to Argentina, where his mother is dealing with cancer.

The lockdown measures in Italy should be eased from May 4, meaning clubs are urging players to return to Italy so they can complete a 14-day quarantine and be ready to resume with everyone else.

However, Sky Sport Italia claim Higuain is resisting the idea, as he wants to stay with his mother during this difficult time.

He is also concerned about the on-going coronavirus pandemic in northern Italy and the timing should he need to fly back to Argentina at short notice.

Considering all this, Pipita not only wants to delay his return, but potentially scrap it altogether.

His future at Juventus was far from certain anyway and he has received interesting proposals from Qatar and MLS.
