The 30-year-old Montenegro international moved to AS Monaco in 2017 for €10.5m, having also played for Partizan Belgrade, Manchester City and Sevilla.

“Inter are one of the best sides in Europe and I was above all happy there in the first six months, when we won almost every game. I’m disappointed it ended that way,” Jovetic told Sebastien Frey in an Instagram Live chat.

“Looking back, I am satisfied with what I achieved there.”

His longest spell was in the Viola jersey from 1008 to 2013, where he contributed 40 goals and 21 assists in 134 competitive games, including a Champions League brace in September 2009.

“The game against Liverpool changed my life. I remember the night before, we went to the stadium for a training session and I was watching Liverpool do their exercises. They were strong, but didn’t really impress me much, so I felt more confident.”

Jovetic was asked if he would like to return to Fiorentina and did not hesitate.

“I really hope that I can, because Florence is a second home for me and will always be an option. It’s one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and I was very happy there for five years.

“I want to play on until I’m 38, so I hope that my body holds up.”
